May 31st 2008 will be remembered as a day when democracy was slaughtered. Democratic National Committee (DNC) came up with a unique formula in the history of democracy where a single vote is counted as half. There is 1 or 0, what is 0.5. If Florida and Michigan has not followed the rule and they need to be punished for that, then it is 0. If you think, in democracy each and every vote counts irrespective of some stupid rules, then it is 1. So where does this 0.5 come from. Isn't it smell something bad? And I have no doubt in that. Big money always talk. There is one question that comes to my mind straightaway - Why was Sen. Obama formula finally accepted? Why did Sen. Obama get delegates from Michigan when he was there in ballot? Isn't it ridiculous. What is wrong with DNC? Who authorize DNC to award votes to Sen. Obama?
If Florida and Michigan didn't abide by the rule then it is not the common man problem. The lawmakers need to be punished, did anyone talk about that? No one knew that Florida and Michigan is going to be so critical. But if this is not resolved properly, then it has big impact on democratic voter base.
Hope Denver meet will resolve this properly and all the votes will be counted. Rules are written to make the society better place to live and not to favor individuals. With this I want to leave a question in my readers mind - How different is DNC from dictators like Ahmadinejad? As per him Iran has democracy :)
